This troubleshooting page will help you diagnose and resolve issues with the Dirt Devil Scorpion Quick Flip Hand Vac.

Clogging

A clogged vacuum still has suction power, but cannot pic up dirt or debris. The airflow may be restricted, but the motor still sounds functional. If clogged, unplug and discontinue use immediately in order to prevent overheating and power failure.

A dirty filter may be the cause of your clogging. If you remove the front module of the vacuum and see that the filter is covered in dirt and debris, it is likely the cause of the clogging.

If the filter is dirty or full of debris, clean it by rinsing or using an air compressor to blow out debris. Examine the filter and make sure it is clean. Replace in the module.

A lodged object may be the cause of your clogging. If you see an object obstructing the intake of dirt from the vacuum, this is likely the cause.

Vacuum Has Poor/No Suction

The Dirt Devil Gator is not picking up dirt and debris.

You’ve already picked up too much stuff! Open the filter chamber by firmly pressing on the “filter button' on the top of the vacuum and pull the vacuum chamber away from the handle. Once removed, acquire the filter, and empty its components into the trash. If you are unable to remove the obstruction, replace the filter.

Remove the exhaust filter from the back of the Dirt Devil Gator by unscrewing the back half of the vacuum to reach the inside of the exhaust filters. Then, remove the obstruction from its vents. If the obstruction is something smaller like hair or dust bunnies, remove with hand and throw away. If the obstruction is something bigger you may need assistance to remove it, like pliers.

If you cannot see into the vacuum, shine a light down the opening to make the interior visible, remove the obstruction, and continue use as intended! The Motor Is Not Working

If the device is not creating sufficient suction or powering on, the motor could be obstructed. Unscrew the screws from the side of the Dirt Devil Gator. Once removed, notice the motor device (the largest one) and inspect to ensure no dirt or debris is obstructing or damaging the motor or its fans! If nothing is obstructing the fans, you will need to replace the motor to restore your device.

If the device is not creating sufficient suction or powering on, the motor or its fans could be dead. Unscrew the screws from the side of the device. Power on the vacuum and observe the motor. If the motor makes a sound when powered on, the motor fan may be obstructed/broken, and you should look to get it replaced. If the motor does not make any kind of response to the power being on, the motor will need to be replaced altogether.

Vacuum Will Not Start/Stay On For Long

The Dirt Devil Gator will not power on or remain powered on for more than 15 seconds.

The Dirt Devil Gator is wireless, so it must charge! Charge the battery, if the dead battery won’t hold a charge, a replacement to the battery can be done to restore the battery to its working condition.

The battery in the device may not be working properly, not allowing the switch in the vacuum to efficiently work. Remove the screws from the side of the device to reach the interior of the Dirt Devil Gator to replace the circuit board. Notice the wiring of the switch to ensure it is fully intact, otherwise re-wire to the switch!

The charger port keeps the vacuum in the Dirt Devil Gator able to be charged and ready to clean everything! If the Dirt Devil Gator will not sufficiently charge or stay powered, the charger port could be malfunctioning. The charger port is underneath the handle of the device. Examine the port to ensure it is not broken, obstructed, or malfunctioning. Otherwise, a charger port replacement would have to take place to keep it in pristine, working conditions!

Vacuum Is Overheating

The Dirt Devil Gator is malfunctioning and feels very warm to the touch.

Let it rest for 15 minutes to cool down. If you are vacuuming too much, you may want to upgrade to a bigger vacuum that can cover larger distances and areas!
